Caring for your wool or wool blend carpet is very simple. Your carpet should be treated with a product such as Scotch Guard to protect it from stains. The first 20 days your carpet should be vacumed daily to remove the wool fibers that shed. This is a natural occurance and not an indication of defect. Your carpet should be vacumed with the grain and never in a direction that lifts the grain. Shampoo your carpet with cold or warm water, never hot. Use either baby shampoo or a quality carpet shampoo. Carpets in Turkey are commonly cleaned by placing the carpet on a clean patio, wetting with a garden hose and gently cleaning with shampoo and a medium bristle brush. After thoroughly rinsing to remove all soap, the back of the cleaning brush is used to gently press the water from the carpet. After cleaning, hang your carpet outside until thoroughly dried. Never hang your carpet where direct sunlight can shine on the top or patterned side. Your carpet may also be cleaned by any competent cleaning service familiar with wool and wool blend carpets.
